Blur Live in Dublin Ireland - Reviews and Run Down
Blur played a concert in Dublin, Ireland exactly ten days ago on August 1st 2013. This marks the second time Blur landed in Ireland; they performed in the Royal Hospital in Kilmainham almost exactly four years ago. For fans who are overseas or have missed the show, scroll down for highlights, images and exclusive videos of the concert.
As quoted from a MusicNews review which described the concert: "Blur rifled through nearly twenty of their finest tunes over the course of the next hour and forty-five minutes, with almost every word Albarn sang repeated back to him by the capacity crowd.
Albarn isn't really one for on-stage banter but the smile that was plastered across his face for much of the evening suggested that this show was about as big a deal for him as it was for the masses in attendance."
Fans had differing opinions about the gig. Commenter Heidi remarked: Damon was great, so enthusiastic throughout. I was a bit freaked out after the gig by the crowds of people trying to walk through an arched stone doorway that wasn't designed for mass exit. Perhaps IMMA need to review this. It's a wonder nobody got hurt.
However, Blur fan Alan criticised the volume of the crowds and said that people talking affected his listening experience: Blur were very good, but the sound was very very poor. Couldn't hear vocals or guitars for the first 4 or 5 songs at least. On top of this, there were people having full conversations with their mates at a high volume throughout, even the quieter songs. I paid money to hear Blur, not everyone else yapping away!

Blur Istanbul Turkey show cancelled over Political Protests
Due to the recent political instability and unrest in Istanbul, the Turkish promoters of the Eifes Pilsen 'One Love Festival' have cancelled the show, which was to feature Blur as one of the main highlights as part of their world tour 2013.
A range of music concerts scheduled to take place in June in Istanbul have been canceled due to the ongoing Gezi Park protests that have spanned across all of Turkey. Gezi Park, a rare strip of green space in Istanbul, was the main site of a heavily opposed redevelopment project to build a shopping mall. Turkey has been plagued by violent demonstrations and heavy protests, reflecting the increasing lack of support for it's authoritarian prime minister Recep Ergodan, his leadership regime and the government's failure to provide for citizen's basic and legal needs.

Cancelled gig originally scheduled for June 2013 |
Snoop Dogg, Zaz, The National, Bloc Party, The Prodigy and Thirty Seconds to Mars were among the artists to take the stage as part of another festival, the Vodafone Istanbul Calling Event.
The highly anticipated Avea Escape Music Festival has also been postponed.
Blur were reported to be excited about seeing their devoted Turkish fans, but hopes to get another chance to visit the city in the future.
Fans who have bought the tickets in advance will be offered a full refund.

Blur will perform in Uruguay, Montevideo in November 2013
Blur have added a new tour location and this time they will be playing in Montevideo, the capital city of Uruguay this year as part of the Spring Festival as part of their worldwide 2013 tour. Blur have announced several new South American tour dates recently, including landmark gigs in Argentina, Chile and Brazil.
Blur are scheduled to perform at the Summer Theater on November 4th 2013 in the third festival Primavera Zero, one of the biggest music festivals in Uruguay. The band is one of the most anticipated and wanted musical acts in the festival this year, largely due to the high demand for Blur to appear in pop and rock festivals from all over the globe.
It looks as if Blur will not stop touring until late this year, and will continue their tour in different cities around the world on a mission to reconnect with old and new fans alike. Followers of the band - stay tuned as new dates have been continuously added to the Blur world tour 2013 (see full list of dates).

What’s the story) Morning glory?

Blur to debut in Chile for World Tour 2013 - New Tour Date announced
Santiago, Chile is officially the latest addition to Blur's list of venues for their 2013 world tour [click for the full list of Blur tour dates].
Blur fans in Chile will finally have the chance to see their favorite band perform for the first time after all the years of waiting. The gig is scheduled just four days after their gig in Argentina and will be held on November 7th 2013 in the National Stadium Athletic Track in Santiago.
The announcement for a Blur concert in Chile was made less than a day ago on a music site as a move to kickstart an advertising and promotional campaign for the show.
The wait is finally over for thousands of fans in South America, many of whom eagerly awaited this special confirmation. Many online campaigns petitioning for Blur to come to North America, such as the "Blur Tour North and South America" fanpage, have surfaced since Blur's reformation in 2009. Fans in Chile have been anticipating for a Blur concert since the band cancelled a gig in the country 14 years ago during 1999, where Blur toured the world to promote their album '13'.
Blur had a debut concert in Chile scheduled for November 25, 1999 , and the fans eagerly awaited the show at the Estadio Monumental. However, the band decided to cancel the show just weeks before the concert, citing political reasons and differences- including a mention of Chilean authoritarian dictator General Augusto Pinochet's arrest a month earlier in a London hospital.
A Blur gig long overdue |
Due to Augusto Pinochet's timely arrest, the local British Embassy warned bands and musicians scheduled on tour for Chile to cancel their shows. Blur's management decided to forgo Chile, leaving thousands of fans disappointed, and continue their '13' tour in Latin America by playing in Argentina, Brazil and Mexico.
14 years later, Blur are finally going to 'debut' in Chile on November 7th at one of Chile's biggest stadiums. With the announcement of plans for new Blur recordings [watch the video of Damon Albarn's surprise announcement] and the possible new dates for Blur's massive world tour, perhaps this year will end on an all-time high note, for both the band and the fans.

Review: Blur at Vive Latino Festival 2013
A fan "...gave Damon Albarn a bracelet which he kept and used for the Vive Latino concert" |
Finally, one of the main members of Blur came out- Alex James. Alex was very posh, as always, and I approach him whist other fans also reached out for him. I thought I was going to speak to him by myself; nonetheless I went towards him and we talked- he was so lovely.
