Blur vow to polish up for massive London Olympics concert 2012

Here's some more Blur related news for all fans out there. For those of you who want all the details about the band's future gig(s) in preparation for the London Olympics at Hyde Park 2012- Graham Coxon did an interview with NME on 29th February 2012.

Watch the most recent interview backstage at the 2012 NME Awards below:

Regarding Blur's summer plans, Graham says: "We're going to start rehearsing soon and we've been back playing together for a bit. We're going to concentrate on making it a really nice experience in the summer.

"We're going to try and get it up a notch from 2009, which seems almost impossible to me in a way because the Glastonbury appearance was so phenomenally amazing."

"We're going to try and go one better." he added. Graham hopes that this year will be more trump the 2009 Hyde Park reunion show, where Blur played a one-off massive gig under the sweltering summer heat.

Graham Coxon and Alexa Chung presented an award to The Vaccines for Best New Band during the ceremony. Coxon is working on his new 80s sounding album A+E and crafting a varied solo career. He also expressed desire to work with The Vaccines and join them on stage in the future, or perhaps during the summertime.

Slightly shaky footage of Coxon and Chung presenting an award to The Vaccines

Blur will play the outdoor closing ceremony show on August 12 for the games' closing ceremony. They have announced that they will headline two concerts in Denmark and Sweden just before the big Hyde Park gig.

Blur made a dramatic return to the stage in the 2009 NME Awards. Damon Albarn and Graham Coxon appeared on stage together for the first time in 9 years. They performed "This is a Low" from their 1995 hit album Parklife.

A touching performance of This is a Low - the performance was raw and emotional

It's exciting knowing that Blur will start rehearsing soon - hopefully there will be more warm-up gigs announced soon. Stay tuned for more up to date Blur news.

Blur prepare for big announcement on future plus exclusive Brits rehearsal footage

BLUR ALERT: Blur are set to appear in an exclusive NME feature piece to talk about their future. Speculations are that they're going to make a new album with producer William Orbit.

The news about Blur headlining the London Olympics 2012 Closing ceremony concert came on midnight yesterday, just a day before the Brit Awards at 8:00pm tonight at the O2 Arena.

Dave Rowntree tweeted a picture of Phil Daniels backstage at the Brits - they WILL be playing Parklife with Daniels doing the vocals.

Blur is set to perform, Girls and Boys, Song 2, Beetlebum and many other huge hits, and also from the Brit Awards twitter : "Exclusive! Outstanding Contribution winners @blurofficial will perform "Tender" (with 32-piece choir) on ITV2 at 10pm tonight"

See some scans of pictures here of Blur's NME magazine feature this week. It will feature an article, posters, exclusive pictures and talks about "new album plans".

Speculations for the NME announcement tomorrow is best summed up by dannn, a forum member, who said:

 My take on recent developments:

• Blur are active again and that’s what we have been craving for years.
• The new song sounds really good and a studio version may not be a piano based ballad and could well be in the same vein as For Tomorrow.
• The gig is a unique opportunity for the band to be part of history. I am sure if it wasn’t for the Olympics they wouldn’t be going anywhere near Hyde Park.
• Expect some intimate warm up gigs.
• The intention at the Brits (and the Olympics gig) could be to put a line in the sand and celebrate the band’s past, whilst looking towards the future as Blur Mark II. I think the band have the desire to continue and produce new music, but I guess we’ll find out tonight / tomorrow.

We couldn't agree more - with William Orbit on board, what else can happen ? Here's our best guess -

- Under the Westway is the Record Day promo
- They're back "in full" as the article says
- Playing Olympics with some intimate warm up gigs
- Then possibly an album towards December with Orbit
