Blur to make a New Album in 2019

Damon Albarn has once again stirred up emotions- and this time it's with the news that a new Blur album is possible in 2019. In a recent interview, the Blur frontman stated that:

“A reunion is never not a possibility. I think most definitely at some point we’ll play those songs again. I’d hate to think I’d never play with those musicians again. But it has just got to be the right time.”

"You want to feel that people really, really, really want you to do it, otherwise you’re kind of becoming a tribute act to yourself,” he explained. “You destroy everything that you’ve created if you do. Given the massive and always-rotating cast of characters in the Gorillaz’ vast universe, Albarn has even contemplated merging the two into one “Some days I really fancy doing a Blur song in the middle of a Gorillaz set,” he admitted. "I’ve never tried it, but I probably shouldn’t.”

Everyday Robots- Damon Albarn's New Solo Album

Damon Albarn is set to release his debut solo album "Everyday Robots" on April 28th 2014. The album's title track and lead single will see a March 3rd digital and vinyl release.

Albarn celebrated the announcement with the release of a new trailer for the album- a short movie clip featuring moving shots of landscapes and urban shots, ending with the hashtag #everydayrobots.

According to Billboard, "Everyday Robots," under the Warner Music umbrella, is comprised of 12 songs. The album will also include a deluxe CD/DVD package that features footage of a live performance in Los Angeles.
An interview with Rolling Stone last year revealed that Albarn had created the project with XL Recordings head Richard Russell, and that it would be a "sort of folk soul" release. Little else is currently known about the album.

Blur and Noel Gallagher confirmed for UK gig- 2013

More tour dates have been announced for Blur in 2013, as this year draws nearer 'to the end'. Damon Albarn, Graham Coxon and Noel Gallagher are set to perform in a UK charity music gig - the Teenage Cancer Trust gig, in March 23th 2013, at the Royal Albert Hall , London.

This announcement followed on from Blur's confirmation for the Vive Latino Festival Mexico yesterday, where the band will be headlining the 3 day music festival in March next year.

As the curator of the charity gigs for 2013, former Oasis member Noel Gallagher will jointly headline the cancer trust gig in London's Royal Albert Hall on March 23 along with former rivals Damon Albarn and Graham Coxon.

Quoting directly from NME:

Noel Gallagher revealed he intends to perform live with his former nemesis, saying: “They’ll be playing Blur songs, I would think. I’ll be playing mine. Will we share the stage together? I hope so. I’m up for it. It’s always good to have a little jam.”

He continued: “I’d initially wanted Blur to do it, because they’ve never done it. I was on tour with Graham, and asked him, and he said Blur had kind of been put to bed, it went back and forth, and they said they’d do it. And yeah: 10 years ago, who’d have thought it?”

Asked if he ever played any Blur songs, he said: “I do play ‘Tender’ sometimes at home to myself, when Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen Minute Meals is on. He’s got some good stuff going on on there!”

Other acts for this special UK gig include Kasabian, Russell Brand and Noel Fielding.

Damon Albarn and Graham Coxon last appeared together in a charity gig for last year's War Child evening, where the two members of Blur debuted their new song 'Under the Westway' and 'The Puritan' to the small group of audience. The two songs were released as an exclusive CD and single, to mark Blur's 21st anniversary box set release.

Will there be another new Blur song to be debuted this year's charity gig? It certainly looks possible since Blur are embarking on a Europe and Latin American tour in 2013 - the charity gig seems like a viable stage to play several new songs. Watch the footage we filmed from last year's War Child Gig below.

Will there be a new Blur song debuted this time ?
Yes ! Like last year

Graham Coxon talks about Orbit- Blur feud

Graham Coxon has finally spoken about the Blur and William Orbit feud in a recent press interview. The Blur guitarist did a short question and answer for Vulture, and spoke about the new Blur songs, new sounds, opening for Noel Gallagher of Oasis fame and why (or why not) Blur may do a new album in the future.

According to the article, Graham Coxon "personally seemed into the idea" of making a new Blur album. He said that the band were getting on "really well" these days, much better than during their comeback gigs in 2009. With regards to any possible new Blur album, here's what Coxon said:

Plans for a new Blur album seem up in the air at the moment.
Up in the air, yeah.
What would you say is the biggest obstacle to the band recording a new album?
I don’t know. Maybe it’s time or the guts or pressing the fucking button and going, "Come on, let’s just bloody do it." It’s maybe the committing to it. It’s a frightening thought, because there’s kind of a pressure on us to record another one, and of course we quite like the idea. But what's stopping us is the pressure. People are saying they want [an album], and that’s making us panic. We like to create our stuff in a relaxed way. It’s no good trying to force stuff just because people want to hear it. It would be a big decision. Because we know what’d be coming after the recording: We’d have to do a lot of traveling and playing. Which is great fun, but it’s a big commitment, obviously.
Who's the holdout? Which band member is the hardest to convince? It sounds like you're into the idea.
I tell you what — we’re all into the idea. There’s nothing wrong with the idea, it’s just the practicalities that get slightly scary. And if we do something, it’s got to be really good.
If you decided against an album, would you consider just releasing singles or EPs?
I think that’s probably not a very good idea, to keep doing that. I’m old-fashioned. I like an album to be a big slice of a time and place, and have a lot of development of ideas. These singles were recorded pretty quickly — too quickly for my liking — and I still get worried. I still come up with ideas for stuff after it's released. Taking our time on an album, that’s what I would like to do. I’d be really into making a record, but [sighs]. If people leave us alone to do it, I think it would be cool.
Coxon also talked about ex-Blur producer William Orbit's (album 13) recent angry tweets about Damon Albarn being a "pig" to the rest of Blur. The mystery of his twitter attacks is finally revealed - Orbit had a go at producing the band's new track 'Under the Westway' but it turned out to be "not what [Blur] were after". So, that was what happened back then.

Blur was in the studio a few months ago with William Orbit for a session that ended acrimoniously, at least according to his tweets. What happened?
We had a go at "Under the Westway." And we just didn’t like the way it turned out. We were just like, "Shit, this is not what we’re after." And we decided to go it alone.
What did it sound like?
I don’t know. [Laughs.] I don’t know what it sounded like, really. I didn’t hear it.

Also, check out William Orbit's version of 'Under the Westway' HERE and give it a listen. The producer posted this up on Soundcloud recently for all to hear. Like it or hate it - it's undeniable that both tracks sound and feel very different.

Damon Albarn to make first solo album for 2012

Damon's going to make a solo album! Exciting news everyone!

DAMON Albarn's done a lot in his 20-year career in music but he's still missing one thing from his lengthy CV – a proper solo recording (The Sun)
Now the Blur and Gorillaz man has pledged to follow fellow Britpop hero Noel Gallagher and spend most of next year recording an album of his own.
But Damon has three albums to get out first.
One is a project by Africa Express – a collective of Western and African musicians – recorded in the Congo.
Another is a collaboration with Flea from Red Hot Chili Peppers and drumming legend Tony Allen.
The third is a recording of his Elizabethan opera.
After that he'll get to work on his first solo disc so it's ready for release some time in 2012.
A source said: "Damon's finally ready to make a solo album after years of hiding behind cartoon band Gorillaz and working with collectives of musicians.
"He's looking forward to it and his label bosses at EMI are pleased as it's sure to sell by the bucketload."
Although it's bad news for fans holding out on a full Blur reunion – a Damon solo disc is still an exciting prospect.
